What dog wellbeing means at Into Nature

At Into Nature, our sled dogs are the heart of every experience we offer.

As a small, family-run company, we spend every day with them — feeding, training, playing, resting, and simply being together.

You’ve probably read on many websites that “our dogs are more than equipment” or “our dogs are family.”
Here, we want to show you what those words truly mean for us in daily life.

WHAT “FAMILY” MEANS TO US

For us, calling our dogs family isn’t a slogan — it is how we live with them.
We know each dog’s personality, their quirks, their favourite scratch spots, the teammates they prefer to run beside, and how they express excitement or tiredness.

Being small allows us to give every dog real individual attention.
We spend time with them even when no tours are running — playtime, free-running, brushing sessions, warm-up walks, recovery routines and simple quiet moments together.

For us, “family” means:

  • Respecting each dog as an individual

  • Listening to their needs and energy levels

  • Making decisions based on their wellbeing

  • Creating a life with freedom, social play, comfort and safety

  • Being present with them every day

  • Staying committed to them for their entire life

NUTRITION: FUEL FOR ARCTIC ATHLETES

Our dogs receive a high-quality, energy-rich diet tailored specifically for working Arctic sled dogs.
We provide premium ingredients to support strong muscles, healthy coats, and stable energy throughout the seasons.

Their diet is adjusted individually and seasonally — a young energetic dog doesn’t eat the same as a senior or a dog taking a rest day.
We monitor each dog’s body condition closely and adapt portions so every dog stays in perfect shape: never too thin, never too heavy.

Hydration is just as important.
Our dogs have constant access to fresh water, and on training days they receive hydration support such as warm water or electrolyte
s to help them recover well.

HOUSING & ENVIRONMENT

Our dogs live in a warm, safe, and stimulating environment designed for their comfort and freedom.

Each dog has:

  • A well-insulated dog house

  • Fresh, clean bedding

  • Protection from wind and snow

  • Daily cleaning and checkups

Beyond their homes, our dogs enjoy something quite special:
over 25,000 m² of natural forest enclosure where they can run, explore, play in social groups, and simply be dogs.
This huge space gives them mental stimulation, natural movement, and the freedom they deserve.

HEALTH, MASSAGE & RECOVERY

Caring for hardworking dogs means giving their bodies the recovery they need.

Our wellbeing routine includes:

  • Gentle muscle massage

  • Stretching before and after activity

  • Infrared light therapy for circulation and recovery

  • Paw care and regular checks

  • Close monitoring of joints, coats, and behaviour

  • Veterinary support whenever needed

These small daily practices make a big difference, keeping our dogs comfortable, strong, and injury-free.

MENTAL STIMULATION & PLAY

A good life is not only about physical health — it’s also about joy and curiosity.
Our dogs enjoy daily enrichment such as exploring the forest enclosure, social play with compatible friends, spending time with us, and discovering new smells and paths.

We love seeing them roll in the snow, nap in the sun, race each other for fun, or simply wander quietly through the trees.
These free moments are part of what makes their life rich and fulfilling.

RETIREMENT & LIFETIME CARE

Our responsibility to our dogs doesn’t end when their working life does.
When a dog retires, they stay with us or go to a carefully chosen forever home where they can enjoy a calm, happy life.
We honour every dog’s journey — from young enthusiasm to wise old age.
